New workers entering the Bureau of Community-based and Primary
Prevention Substance Abuse Prevention Program system are required
to attend Prevention Basics University (PBU) a four-part
training process that includes the following programs:
- Prevention Basics 101:
Welcome to Prevention
(Teleconference Call)
- Prevention Basics 102: Reporting Requirements (Self-Study
Course)
- Prevention Basics 103: State System Introduction (Regional
Training Meeting)
- Prevention Basics 104: Prevention Skills Training (Classroom-Based
Course)
The Prevention Basic University
training process will:
- explain the term “prevention” and the evolution of prevention science.
- demonstrate the comprehensive grant provider’s role in reporting requirements of the OnTrack system.
- identify the scope and function of prevention in Illinois.
- demonstrate the basic skills and information necessary to plan and implement effective prevention programs.
Registration is required for PB101, PB103 and PB104. Information
about completing PB102, the self-study course, will be provided
upon registration for PB101. All course components must be
completed in sequence. Currently, Prevention Basics University
is open only to SAPP providers.
