How to register for training
Registrations along with payments are entered on a first received
basis due to space limitations in the trainings.
To register for trainings: download our
Registration
form and either the Pre-training
Form or the New
SAP Planning Steps form.
New members being added to an existing SAP,
who are attending SAP Development Training, must download
the Pre-Training
Form, complete the pre-training
activities, and submit the form by fax (217.793.7354). Your
registration will be complete and confirmed when the Pre-Training
Form is received.
For new SAPs, download the New
SAP Planning Steps Form, complete and bring with
you to training.
Complete the appropriate forms including the registration
form or either new member or planning steps forms and give
a purchase order number. Fax the forms to 217.793.7354 Attention:
Valerie Ellis. You also can mail the forms along with the
check to Prevention First, 2800 Montvale Drive, Springfield
IL 62704, to Valerie's attention. Make checks payable
to Prevention First.
If you are using a purchase order, please put the purchase
order number on the registration form and give an estimated
date check will be mailed to Prevention First. Please ensure
that a copy of the registration names accompanies the check
so that it may be properly credited to your school or agency.
A non-refundable $25 per person registration fee is charged
for each training. Participants unable to attend will not
receive a refund. Schools or agencies of those cancelling
will receive by mail, following the training, a $25 registration
waiver to be used at any future trainings. Individuals needing
to cancel attendance should call 800.252.8951 Ext 124.

*Those attending from a school with an existing SAP should

Length of Training: Two days
Goal: Provide participants with the basic
information and key concepts necessary to begin implementation
of a new Student Assistance Program or become a member of
an existing building-based Student Assistance Program.
Focus: SAP implementation and development
based in best practices that should result in the capacity
of participants to assess student and staff needs and resources,
establish a framework for prevention, early identification,
intervention, and support services that address those needs.
Content Areas: Nine Constructs of a Comprehensive
Student Assistance Program framework through universal, selected
and indicated strategies; integration of SAP with RTI, socio-emotional
learning and other school programs.
12-hours of Teacher Re-certification Units are available
for this training.

Imagine That:
SAP Dreams and Dilemmas
Student Assistance Booster Training for Multiple
Schools
Pre-Requisite: prior training and experience
in working with a school-based Student Assistance Program.
Length: One day (6 training hours)
Target Participants: multiple schools with
existing SAPs
Goal: Working through an assessment process
that allows participants to leave with a basic plan for the
coming year’s SAP
Focus: Universal, selective and indicated
strategies utilized by each school with the intent of sharing
program ideas and solutions for common problem areas for their
SAPs. Participants will examine issues impacting the SAP process.
Participants will consider the strengths and growth needed
for each area.
Six-hours of Teacher Re-certification Units are available
for this training.

Moving Targets: SAP Assessment
and Goal Setting
For the Individual School

Moving Targets for your SAP.
Pre-Requisite: prior training and experience
in working with a school-based Student Assistance Program.
Length: One day (6 training hours)
Target Participants: An individual school
with a minimum of 20 participants working with an existing
SAP. We regret that we are unable to schedule the training
for groups smaller than 20 participants.
Goal: Assisting the individual school in
assessing that school’s Student Assistance strategies.
Focus: The workshop content and process
identifies what’s working, where gaps exist, and considers
a 1 to 3 year plan for implementing additional strategies
for the SAP. The workshop must be scheduled away from the
school setting with participants committing to a full day
of attendance.
Six hours of Teacher Re-certification Units are available
for this training.
