Partners

Prevention First collaborates with a diverse group of organizations in fulfillment of its mission, working to educate others regarding the role of substance abuse prevention in impacting other social and public health issues. Notable partners include:

  • The Partnership@drugfree.org: Prevention First has served as the Illinois affiliate of The Partnership@drugfree.org, working together to place the Partnership's outstanding television, radio and print media in key media markets in Illinois, particularly Chicago. We also helped promote the Partnership's national initiatives such as the Medicine Abuse Project.
  • Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Association: Prevention First has been a long-standing member of this association, dedicated to advocating on behalf of Illinois' substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services. We work closely with IADDA in identifying policy and funding issues relative to substance abuse prevention and educating policymakers and the general public about the importance of substance abuse prevention.
  • The Center for Prevention Research and Development, University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana: Prevention First has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with CPRD in supporting the State's substance abuse prevention system. We often team up to develop resources, tools, training and technical assistance that advance the efforts of local grantees in conducting local needs assessments, adopting evidence-based programs and strategies and collecting data to measure impact and success.
  • National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) – Illinois Affiliate, administered by Trinity Services, Inc.: Prevention First serves on the advisory committee for Illinois NOFAS, offering its knowledge and experience regarding the prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. We complement the broader focus of Illinois NOFAS, which is to advocate for and support individuals who have been diagnosed with an FASD and their families.
