The Opioid Learning and Response Collaborative (OLRC) is hosting its first Regional Networking Event-Central on December 4, 2025 in Springfield, Illinois. This event will bring together professionals working in prevention, harm reduction, and street outreach to build connections and break down silos. Attendees will hear a presentation from Southern Illinois University (SIU) on peer workforce development, peer workforce training, and stigma reduction surrounding people with lived experience. OLRC will introduce its new website, offer a tutorial on how to utilize the website's resources, and get attendees excited about what’s to come. This event is open to all interested parties, with a focus on individuals with lived experience, those who supervise PLEs, and direct service workers.
Southern Illinois University will be presenting on the topics of workforce development, peer workforce training, and their CRSS program. Attendees of the event will learn about the goals, purpose, current state, and components of workforce development. Attendees will also learn about peer workforce training, its core competencies, performance domains, and growth with Prevention First. Lastly, SIU will incorporate stigma reduction regarding supervising and working alongside people with lived experience.

Prevention First will be presenting on OTTAC and OLRC (mission, background, purpose), giving a tutorial on the new OLRC website and resource hub, and introducing upcoming events and opportunities. Attendees will leave having learned of a new resource to utilize and how OLRC can be a support for professionals and communities across Illinois.
