This is a Virtual Classroom event.

Comprehensive Opioid Response (COR) is the evolution of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s historic COR-12 training. Initially focused on integrating twelve-step facilitation in healthcare settings with the use of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), COR for non-prescribing healthcare professionals expands and updates the original.

COR consists of four parts: 1) COR Foundations; 2) Harm Reduction and MOUD; 3) Integrating Evidence-Based Psychosocial Therapies; and 4) Peer-Supported Recovery. Each part educates on the considerations for individualizing care that are rooted in the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM) Practice Guidelines for Opioid Use Disorder and ASAM dimensions/level of care criteria. The training centers on leading-edge and comprehensive strategies proven to reduce opioid overdose deaths and and improve individual and community health while promoting client choice and embracing multiple pathways to recovery.

 Objectives:

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the benefits of the COR integrated care approach and its principles.
  • Recognize the role of harm reduction and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in combating the opioid epidemic.
  • Discuss key evidence-based psychosocial therapies for the treatment of opioid use and co-occurring disorders within the COR model.
  • Summarize the value of peer-supported recovery in sustaining individual and community wellness.
  • Demonstrate COR’s foundational elements through multiple application exercises designed to aid non-prescriber behavioral healthcare professionals serving diverse individuals, families, and communities affected by the opioid epidemic.
