Fresh Perspectives in Suicide Prevention is a statewide virtual event designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capacity of professionals, community partners, and stakeholders engaged in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention/aftercare. Hosted by Prevention First in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Fresh Perspectives brings together diverse presenters, subject matter experts, and practitioners to highlight best practices, emerging research, and culturally responsive approaches to suicide prevention across Illinois.
This annual event serves as a collaborative learning space where participants can explore evidence-based strategies, share resources, engage in dialogue, and strengthen cross-sector partnerships. The event also elevates the voices of individuals and communities disproportionately affected by gaps in mental health access and suicide risk. Through high-quality sessions, accessible virtual engagement, and a focus on actionable practice, Fresh Perspectives equips attendees with tools to identify warning signs better, respond effectively, and support individuals, families, and communities impacted by suicide.
