Photovoice and Data Visualization Workshop

Wednesday, June 17, 2026
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This is a Virtual Classroom event.

Combining the experience of content creation with the expertise and phenomena of Gordon Parks, UBUNTU will lead youth development workers through an interactive workshop that supports civic engagement programming. Participants will practice using photovoice as a form of storytelling, then learn how to interpret and present images as data visualizations. This workshop will be both a lecture and a lab, providing the opportunity to practice, develop, and present their understanding of both photovoice and data visualization, while exploring how the two combined can be used for social change.

  • Learn the history of storytelling and its role in our daily lives
  • Explore innovative storytelling data collection methods
  • Develop a baseline understanding of how data visualization can be an effective tool for communication in their work
