Join us for an interactive four-day, virtual classroom training that will equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to implement effective, data-driven substance misuse prevention. Grounded in current research and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), this training connects prevention theory to everyday practice.
Through live Zoom sessions and homework activities, participants will build a strong foundation in behavioral health, the Continuum of Care, and the public health approach to prevention. Participants will also learn to develop a comprehensive approach to prevention and collaborate effectively across sectors to address shared risk factors and improve community health and well-being. This training is perfect for entry-level prevention specialists, individuals seeking certification, public health professionals, and health educators.
The SAPST includes a self-paced online component and virtual classroom training. Before registration for the virtual classroom training will be approved, participants MUST complete the online course Introduction to Substance Abuse Prevention: Understanding the Basics.
This training is IC&RC Prevention Specialist Credentialing approved. Continuing education hours (CEUs) are only available to participants who complete all training components.
Note: Although some of the content is similar, the SAPTS training does not meet the IDHS SUPP New Worker training requirements of IISUP I, IISUP II, and IISUP III.
Dates of the training will only be the following four days: June 15, June 17, June 22, and June 24
