This webinar will be based on the award-winning work of Majora Carter, an urban revitalization strategist, visiting professor, and celebrated author of Reclaiming Your Community: You Don’t Have to Move Out of Your Neighborhood to Live in a Better One. Historic disinvestment is recognized as a root cause of violence, particularly in communities labeled as low-income but Majora doesn’t focus on problems—she focuses on solutions. Majora will encourage organizational capacity building and discuss how brain drain cripples communities and demonstrate how other communities have mapped out a development strategy that focused on talent retention to help people break out of economic stagnation.
