Two new studies from the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease
Prevention highlight the impact of direct-to-consumer (DTC) alcohol home delivery on
drinking behaviors and alcohol-related outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The
first study explores how use of DTC alcohol home delivery is associated with higher
alcohol consumption and greater negative drinking consequences, while the second
study analyzes trends in alcohol-related online searches following changes to state DTC
alcohol home delivery policy. These studies highlight implications for alcohol policy
and recommendations to mitigate alcohol-related harms in the context of post-
pandemic DTC policy changes.
